Event Description:

Advocacy in Action with the West Coast Chamber
Public Policy Committee Meeting

The West Coast Chamber serves as the region's advocate for business at the local, state and federal levels, representing the combined strength of our diverse industry sectors. Interested in governmental and political issues? The Public Policy Committee reviews issues of local and regional concern and makes position recommendations to the Board of Directors. Join us monthly for interesting and sometimes lively discussion about the issues that affect you and your business.

In November, we will be joined by Varnum Attorney, Katie Roskam, to discuss how investing in qualified Opportunity Zones offers significant tax benefits. The  Tax Cuts and Jobs Act includes a new tax incentive aimed at developing economic growth and business in certain designated, low-income communities, including parts of Holland and Muskegon. Katie will cover the structure of a Qualified Opportunity Zone Fund (QOZ), the federal tax benefits, the investment time window and emerging regulations.
