        Labor Update 
            Presented by Keith Eastland 
What a busy year for HR professionals.  Please join us for a review of the most significant labor and employment developments in 2019.  We?ll also look forward to what?s in store for 2020, and discuss what steps your organization should be considering as we enter the new year.  Key points that we?ll cover include: examining recent wage and hour developments and changes to ensure your organization is compliant; the status of ?sex? as a protected classification under federal and state law; continuing EEO challenges in the ?me too? environment and how best to manage investigations; as well as an overview of recent important NLRB changes that impact all employers. 


        Employee Benefits Update 
            Presented by Jeff Gray
Jeff Gray will provide a short update on the most important regulatory developments affecting employee benefit plans. He will also discuss the most common errors in retirement plan administration and how to correct those errors if they occur. 

        The Key Points in a Reduction in Force 

            Presented by Kelly Stoppels 
Although the economy is still humming, there are indicators of a downturn on the horizon.  It?s important that HR professionals understand some key legal issues in preparing for a possible reduction.  This presentation will discuss the most important considerations when implementing a reduction in force.  Key points will include planning so as to minimize legal risk, understanding WARN Act requirements, and drafting group severance agreements / releases so as to meet the requirements of the Older Worker Benefit Protection Act.

  • Steps for planning and implementing a reduction in force while minimizing legal risk
  • Overview of the WARN Act and understanding the timing and notice obligations
  • OWBPA impact on effective severance and release
