Lakeshore ATHENA Award Program

The Lakeshore ATHENA Award is presented annually to recognize individuals who demonstrate excellence, creativity, and initiative in their business or profession, provide valuable service by contributing time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the community, and actively assist women in realizing their full leadership potential.
The Lakeshore ATHENA Awards program is a collaboration of shoreline area communities - The Chamber of Grand Haven, Spring Lake, Ferrysburg; the Michigan West Coast Chamber of Commerce; and the Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce.
The program will be held on Tuesday, October 1, at Trillium Events (17246 Van Wagoner Rd, Spring Lake) from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Tickets are $40 per person for Chamber members, $50 per person for non-members or $390 per corporate table of eight.
Gayle Davis, provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Grand Valley State University since 2002, will be the keynote speaker. Gayle has a master's degree in Art History and a doctorate in American Studies from Michigan State University. She taught in and chaired the Women's Studies Department at Wichita State University in Kansas and served as WSU's Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research. Gayle was honored as the 2009 Distinguished Woman in Higher Education by the Michigan American Council on Education.
