Name: Public Policy Luncheon with Chamber Coalition 10/23/17
Date: October 23, 2017
Time: 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM EDT
Event Description:
Save the Date Joint Meeting - October 23
  • Planning is under way for a WMCC Joint Meeting and Lunch with Legislators in collaboration with Talent 2025, the US Chamber Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute.
    • The event will focus on a key aspect impacting talent: quality childcare. This has been identified in our region and state as a key issue to address for children, parents and employers and is featured in this recent US Chamber Foundation report.
      • Studies show that children who have better quality care at the early stages of life are more likely to perform better in school and be more successful in life. Investment in quality childcare is significantly lacking in the U.S., yet is one of the most important investments that our country can make to increase employment in skilled areas and increase economic productivity.
      • We have secured the author of the report to speak, will be inviting regional legislators, and should have a live RSVP link and marketing material for you soon. We hope you will invite your GA audiences and Board.
      • Our goal is to also have some policy options ready for lawmakers to consider if appropriate
Our Keynote Speaker, Katharine B. Stevens, Resident Scholar, Education Policy Studies, American Enterprise Institute

Stevens authored the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation report that explores high-quality childcare as an approach to building a strong and better-trained American workforce today and for the future.

Investment and access to quality childcare is significantly lacking, yet is one of the most important investments that our country can make to better equip the next generation for success and increase economic productivity.
